Earlier this summer Moz presented the 2013 Search Engine Rankings Factor Survey. Basically Moz surveys 120 of the smartest thought leaders in the search industry to evaluate which page or site level attributes has the strongest association with ranking highly in Google. The following pie chart illustrates the most powerful ranking factors according to the survey respondents:

- 1. Domain Level Brand Metrics (8.83): The fifth biggest factor in terms of rankings is domain mentions such as citations.
- 2. User Usage and Traffic/Query Data (8.28): The sixth biggest factor is usage data, including the number of searches for your brand or domain name (i.e. directly types the domain into the search bar).
I haven’t always understood the nature of SEO and how it could benefit my website, so I had to pay for training. It was well worth it and has helped me better understand my business.
